Leaders call on Government to ‘make the North a priority’ in rail plan

NORTHERN leaders say that they “cannot continue to wait” for the Government’s Integrated Rail Plan – anticipated to define dedication to HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail – and that the plan ought to totally incorporate the North’s priorities.

Transport for the North members mentioned how rail funding and electrification was basic to tackling local weather change, creating jobs and unleashing the North’s financial potential.

Tim Wood, the group’s interim chief govt, stated: “The North has already set out its imaginative and prescient for the future in a transport technique that every one of our leaders are signed up to.
