CHICAGO – Federal authorities arrested a Chicago police officer Friday in connection along with his alleged role in the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.
Karol J. Chwiesiuk was arrested Friday morning at his residence in Chicago, based on Joseph Fitzpatrick, assistant U.S. legal professional for the Northern District of Illinois.
He is charged with 5 federal misdemeanors alleging illegal entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, based on the federal grievance. He appeared Friday earlier than a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Chicago and was ordered launched on a private recognizance bond, Fitzpatrick stated.
The Chicago Police Department and police union officers didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.
