Russell Wilson says he didn’t request trade from Seahawks

Russell Wilson is able to transfer on from the offseason drama that forged doubt on his future in Seattle.

The Seahawks quarterback advised reporters on Thursday that he didn’t request a trade after final season’s first-round playoff exit.

“I did not request a trade,” Wilson advised reporters repeatedly at a Thursday news convention, per the Tacoma News Tribune. “Obviously, I love Seattle. … I’ve always wanted to play here for my whole career.”

The assertion would not correlate with Wilson’s agent telling ESPN in February that he was prepared to waive his no-trade clause for the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders or Chicago Bears. Technically he didn’t ask for a trade. Rather, he let Seattle know that he’d be prepared to play for different groups.

Wilson was requested about that report, and he mentioned there was a number of confusion.

“I think there was a lot of confusion,” he mentioned. “Everybody was saying that I requested a trade. And that wasn’t true. So we made it clear that I did not request a trade. There were teams being flown around that I was gonna go to those teams, this and that.”

Wilson added that he needed to play in Seattle, but when he needed to go elsewhere, these had been the groups he would take into account taking part in for.

While the Seahawks had been by no means prepared to trade Wilson, his offseason frustration was actual. In February, he mentioned he was upset about getting hit an excessive amount of. Then there was a report that tensions between Wilson and Pete Carroll’s teaching employees prompted the quarterback to storm out of the room throughout a sport towards the Arizona Cardinals.

Now that the 2 sides have moved on, it seems Wilson is prepared for an additional season in Seattle. If issues do not go properly in 2021, perhaps he’ll lastly demand a trade.
