Report: NHL to discuss holding 2021 playoffs in bubble

The NHL will reportedly discuss the opportunity of returning to a bubble setting for the 2021 playoffs, in accordance to SportsNet’s Elliotte Friedman. 

The news comes amid the Vancouver Canucks main COVID-19 outbreak. The membership has 14 gamers on the NHL’s COVID record and the Brazil variant has reportedly been recognized among the many optimistic instances. 

Several groups throughout the NHL have skilled outbreaks this season, together with the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins. With that in thoughts, it is no shock the league is contemplating a bubble format. 

The NHL hosted the 2020 playoffs in separate bubbles in Edmonton and Toronto. Friedman notes that it is unclear if the identical measures might be used. It depends upon how the pandemic evolves.

The 2021 playoffs are slated to start May 11, although that would change relying on if the league wants to reschedule video games.
