Self-healing and eco-friendly gadgets that generate electricity from body heat might power wearable gadgets, similar to a coronary heart monitor for runners.

Jianliang Xiao on the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his colleagues created gadgets based mostly on thermoelectric turbines, which convert heat into electricity. The crew embedded plenty of these turbines in a skinny movie made from a versatile polymer known as polyimine and wired them along with a liquid gallium-indium alloy to create stretchable bands that may be worn on arms, legs and fingers.
