“Post the onset of WFH culture and lockdown amidst the pandemic, there has been a 20-25 per cent increase in cases of Sick Scapula Syndrome in young people aged 30-45 years,” Dr Raghu Nagaraj, Senior Consultant, Orthopaedics and Bone and Joint Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road, Bengaluru, instructed IANS.
Usually, athletes have the next prevalence of scapular dyskinesis of about 61 per cent as in contrast with non-athletes. “The incidence of Sick scapula syndrome, especially in the IT professionals, reception and desk workers has surprisingly increased and need sharp observation to diagnose. Once suspected, aggressive behavioural modification with exercise can help,” he added.
The shoulder joint is considerably like a ball-and-socket joint and includes three bones: the humerus (higher arm bone), the scapula (shoulder bone), and the clavicle (collarbone). The highest level of the humerus shapes the ball that sits contained in the glenoid of the scapula.

While sedentary work can’t be completed away with, folks should take sufficient measures similar to exercising day by day, sustaining the proper posture and taking breaks from their seats in between work. Getting up from the seat and strolling whereas taking cellphone calls, not utilizing the cellphone, will ease the difficulty.
