Within two days of submitting her nomination for the high-octane Bhabanipur bypoll, BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal obtained a notice from the returning officer involved. Priyanka Tibrewal (40) has been pitted towards West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee within the September 30 bye-election.
In the notice issued on Wednesday, the returning officer says Priyanka Tibrewal violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and Covid-19 norms on the day of submitting her nomination.
“It appears that you have violated the ECI (Election Commission of India) guidelines with respect to the number of vehicles allowed in a procession and the provision regarding no procession before and after the filing of nomination,” the notice learn.

The returning officer had requested Priyanka Tibrewal to answer to the notice by 5 pm Wednesday and clarify why permission for her rallies forward of the bypoll shouldn’t be revoked.
However, BJP’s Priyanka Tibrewal stated she had not violated any guidelines and it’s the prerogative of Kolkata Police to take away autos on the street.
She informed reporters in a while Wednesday, “I’ve replied to the EC notice. They said a number of cars were following me for nomination, but I can’t stop what the public does. I only participated in a ‘kirtan’ with locals. They’re (TMC) scared as I challenged Mamata Banerjee’s nomination.”

“It is an attempt to stop me from campaigning by making such complaints against me to ECI. I am not responsible for the other cars apart from the two cars that were with me and Suvendu Adhikari was in the car with me. I had only one other car for my security,” Priyanka Tibrewal stated earlier within the day.
On Tuesday, the BJP had objected to CM Mamata Banerjee’s nomination for Bhabanipur citing a scarcity of particulars of alleged legal data in her nomination papers.
