The study was carried out on round 80 college students within the Småland area of southern Sweden. The children who took half had been chosen following a phrase recognition check and had been cut up into three teams: good readers, children with some reading difficulties and children with main reading difficulties (i.e. having phonological impairments).
In the study, the children had been requested to learn 12 phrases whereas being uncovered to 4 completely different ranges of visible white noise, from zero to excessive.
