Female Afghan soccer players flee to Pakistan, joining exodus of women and girls

When the Taliban final managed Afghanistan, from 1996 to 2001, the group enforced a radical interpretation of Islamic legislation that pressured women to put on burqas whereas stopping them from working, attending college or showing in public with out male chaperones. Since capturing the nation final month, the Taliban has pledged to respect women’s rights, with the caveat that such rights should not contradict the group’s view of tradition and faith.
