New Covid-19 guidelines ask schools to hold exams online in Odisha – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: The Covid-19 guidelines issued by the state authorities on Saturday for the month of March have created confusion amongst college authorities, mother and father and college students as the federal government has requested to conduct online exams for college students of class IX and XI.

Due to the concern of an increase in Covid-19 an infection, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has requested schools to conduct online examinations for sophistication IX and XI.

Considering the current scenario, the varsity and mass schooling division might permit conduct of intra-college class promotion examination for ninth and eleventh requirements giving the choice of online examination to the scholars with consent of their mother and father and guardians, learn the SRC guidelines.

As per the order of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), its affiliated schools are all set for offline examination whereas some non-public schools affiliated to different boards have already began the annual examination for sophistication IX and XI in offline mode.

“The March guidelines really confused us and we cannot decide how to go about it. We have planned to conduct the annual exam for class IX and XI in offline mode from Monday as per the CBSE guidelines. Today is Saturday and there is no time to inform all students for any change in exam schedule,” stated the principal of a number one CBSE college in the town.

School sources stated a big quantity of mother and father are asking for offline examination to keep away from the probabilities of malpractice whereas college students have been requesting for online exams.

Meanwhile, some schools have determined to conduct offline exams following Covid-19 guidelines. “We are going to conduct the exam in offline mode following Covid guidelines. Since the whole school is empty as there are no physical classes for junior students we can easily maintain social distancing,” stated Nilakantha Panigrahy, senior principal of SAI International School.

The SRC additionally allowed open air theatres, jatras and operas with permission from the native authorities following security protocols like obligatory sporting of masks, bodily distancing and provision of thermal scanning.
