Prayagraj: The by-elections for the two wards of Dariyabad locality of the town have been performed peacefully on Tuesday. According to the returning officer, Ajay Kumar Chaurasia, 28% polling was recorded.
The by-election was performed after the loss of life of Ehtesham Rizvi, who had gained on a Congress ticket.
Of the seven candidates in fray, three are contesting from totally different political parties-Congress, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) whereas 4 are unbiased.
Prior to Rizvi, this seat was dominated by Samajwadi Party (SP) however the social gathering didn’t area any candidate on this election as an alternative supported an unbiased candidate.
Chaurasia stated, “The by-election was conducted peacefully and 28% voters exercised their franchise. The voting was conducted at nine booths in three polling stations.”
