Citizen services in Covid times: Karnataka to kick off Sakala awareness pilot on use of online channels

The State Government is taking over a marketing campaign to create awareness about Sakala, the regulation that ensures supply of citizen services inside a stipulated time, in a bid to encourage individuals to make use of online channels to get services they want.

The Sakala Mission, the federal government entity overseeing implementation of the Sakala Act, has launched a pilot programme on Tesz.in, a free to use platform for presidency departments backed by the Kerala Startup Mission. Citizens can pose their Sakala-related queries on the platform and the division involved will present the reply.

“During the Covid-19, with people’s movement being restricted, Sakala becomes all the more important for citizens to make full use of,” Education & Sakala minister S Suresh Kumar stated.

The online platform will give all data associated to Sakala, together with service procedures, workflows and services notified beneath the regulation. We are doing a pilot with Tesz from June 15, and take additional steps after seeing the response,” he added.

Sakala Mission and all of the departments which are beneath Sakala have drafted a nodal officer every to reply queries from residents. Citizens can both submit their queries on the platform or learn responses already posted in the FAQ part, Sakala’s Additional Mission Director BR Mamatha stated.
