Chelsea Blythe has joined Def Jam Recordings as Senior Vice President.
Blythe, described as an “experienced and dynamic A&R executive with deep ties to the Los Angeles creative community” by the label, will oversee present and new artist initiatives, whereas discovering and signing new expertise to Def Jam.
Based in Santa Monica, Blythe will report on to Jeff Harleston, interim CEO of Def Jam Recordings since 2020.
She started her profession in music with the A&R Department at Interscope Records in 2012, with the label creating artists akin to Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Mike WiLL Made-it and Rae Sremmurd’s.
Blythe moved to Columbia Records in 2016, the place she helped break acts akin to Polo G, The Kid LAROI and Baby Keem.
Her appointment marks the label’s second West Coast-based rent this week following the news on Monday (June 7) that Snoop Dogg has joined the label as Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant.
